Hi! I've just started recrunching again after a few months off. These results have me as the only cruncher. In other words, I'm the only one who was sent these units. Any idea what is going on? I'm not sure if this is related to the ghost units that were posted here or not. That seems like a different scenario. Thanks in advance!

Lots of units with no other crunchers
)
hi there!
from what i know einstein@home tries to assign work to hosts depending on the files that are already downloaded to that host. this helps to keep transfer times down (especially for dial-up users).
if there is no more work for the host according to the files located on that host, it downloads another set of files.
most probably youre the first one to crunch on those specific files and there have not been another host to get those files. happened to me too to be the only one crunching some wus for some time, but i must admit it did not last that long as in your case.
just wait a bit longer and see your credit increase when finally those wus got assigned to other hosts. and in the meantime be happy that you dont need to download lots of new files :)
hope this helps,

Me too,

I have 1 new computer client that has now processed 7 Work Units with out any of them being assigned to more than 2 computers ... and therefore no credit What Gives ???
Look at These -> http://einsteinathome.org/host/390494/tasks
And now my longest running client has suddenly caught the same "diesease"
Look at These -> http://einsteinathome.org/host/372828/tasks
Looks to me somthing may have gone wrong with the Scheduler ...
Has ther been a recent change ?

I have only 2 "lonely" WUs at the moment but there is a problem - two of the other crunchers have finished them with computation errors, and they are not sent to new clients yet. May be I'll have to wait a couple of weeks to see the results validated. There's a change in the database too - "the oldest unsent" WU jumped from 3.5 to 6.5 days. I guess the project needs a far greater number of reliable hosts. We could not do anything about it though, so let's just be patient. :)

Thanks for the replies. It's nice to know I'm not alone in being alone! (Hmmm....there is a Police song in there somewhere! :) ) I guess I just need to be patient, which I can handle. I just found it really weird that all of my WU's were that way. Oh well....

they all have quorams now and are coming in
it took a week before they were filled but it is nice to finally know that they were not just waste.
thanks for your post Shagz

Exactly the same problem here!

This is getting ridiculous! I accumulated 36 pending results in just one week because every single WU I receive was sent out only once - to my machine. Thereafter it takes a week or longer until this same WU gets sent to other users. The problem is not only the delay in credits but the database most be exploding right now.

Off-the-wall theory... is it possible that the file containing those units was downloaded to your PC months ago - then you left for a few months - then came back - and the remaining units from the months-old file were released for you to finally finish crunching? Meanwhile, the others who were given the same file finished, and it's all been deleted by now?
I don't understand how Einstein deals with the "multiple WUs in one file" thing in this type of situation; I would hope that it would be smart enough to have your client just discard the file, but I'm not sure...
Hey Martin, You are one of

Hey Martin,
You are one of the unfortunate people who has a relatively fast computer (Oh, you must cry yourself to sleep every night!!!!)
Einstein doesn't like to give any two people the same combination of WUs, so what can happen is that since you are crunching faster than many other people, you've already done a WU with everyone else requesting a WU in the past specified amount of time...
There was a really good example someone made of this at one time, but I can't seem to find it...
But basically what will happen is that as they are required other people will be sent that WU and they will get crunched and validated. unfortunately this means that you have a long turn around time for the credit. but you WILL get the credit.
