Topic 188405

A few nights ago my system crashed. Win98se, 4.19, AMD.
Although I had a number of unfinished jobs they all disappeared. Now I am also unable to down load new work. How do I find the unfinished jobs on my computer or get new work from you?

Thanks

Lost Work

You've got more than one problem. The last 20 work units that you returned (yesterday), all claimed and got credited zero credits.

So did you find the cause of your crash? It may have broken something. Have you tried to uninstall & reinstall BOINC?

Hi Again, I tried

Hi Again,
I tried "reset project" and I uninstalled and reinstalled 4.19(twice). I still get the message:

Einstein@Home - 2005-03-09 12:56:10 - Message from server: No work sent (daily quota of 8 WU reached)
This is after the Boinc message to the server was insufficient work. And I have no work showing in the work Tab window.

When I view my accout at Einstein@Home it shows in addition to the "zero jobs" 8 undone jobs being due on March 16. I don't have or show these in the Boinc work tab either.

More about the crash. In the evening the work tab had a number of unfinished jobs showing and the machine was working away on one of them. The next morning the work tab window and the transfer tab windows were empty. The machine did not seem otherwise distressed. Norton Disk Utility found a number of problems on the hard drive like file fragments and incorrect free space. Now that it is cleaned up the machine is working fine, except Einstein@Home apparently thinks that the work is still here and is not sending more.

This may be a loss of synchronization on what work I have between the Boinc program here and the server. I have no idea how to reset it.

Thanks for anyhelp
Joe

Bruce, does Client_State.xml

Bruce, does Client_State.xml record which files are given to a client and therefore if you delete that xml file, would it reset everything, or would a deletion of the Slots folder for Einstein be a better solution?

Hi, I have hidden

Hi,
I have hidden client_state.xml. A new one was created, new files down loaded, and now I am back to computing. Thanks for the tip.

BTW I tend to use tabs for the beginings of paragraphs. When I try that with your message windows, I wind up sending incomplete messages : )
