Until now everything was working fine. I ran einstein and seti, both with priotity 100 ( 50/50 ) on a q6600. after adding an gt240 running only on seti and changing the load to 100 ( 1/3 ) seti and 200 ( 2/3 ) einstein i have the problem that einstein is running dry and not asking for new work. on the other hand seti is asking for so much work that i think i get really fast in edf mode. i have tried differend setting for the load and it is always the same problem, but it is only on downloading new work, the crunching is working 1/3 seti and 2/3 einstein. i have 1 core on seti, 2on einstein and one is changing the projects.
Did i miss something about a known bug or what is the problem, i do not know.

Thanks for any idea.

Load balancing problem with boinc

Oh, my, where to start ...

First, this can be a problem with some BOINC versions ... so, that is situation possibility one ...

Second, the work proportions are only honored over time, so, you may see one project or the other over subscribe until the system figures out the right balance and corrects ... that is the UCB public line ...

However, they have been very remiss in working on issues with RR Sim, Resource Scheduler, and Work Fetch modules (which all interact in this issue) and though many have suggested "cures" none have been forthcoming ...

So, to start with, let BOINC run off the work for a week or so and see if it comes into balance ... you can also try different versions to see if they help or hinder your load balancing ...

My personal recommendation is 6.10.45 for what that is worth, I run it on 4 of my 5 systems at the moment...

Oh, one more thing, the resource share is one of the last rules honored in the scheduling of work ... it has been pushed further and further down the list of rules honored to the point now where I sometimes wonder if it truly is honored at all ... the problem is that I have not been able to come up with a way to "prove" this one way or another ... and even if I did prove it, well, UCB likely will ignore the evidence because making BOINC work the way you (or I) want it to work is not on their agenda ...

You are welcome ... we live to answer ... :)

Been so long since I ran a version that low that I don't recall its idiosyncrasies ... give it a couple of days and see it stabilizes ...
