Anyone else having corruption issues in Linux Mint 18? My OS just imploded a few hours ago and I had to wipe and reinstall.

Curious if anyone else is having issues, no guarantee its related to crunching.

I'm running Linux Mint 17.1

I'm running Linux Mint 17.1 and 17.3 on my two machines and both seem ok.  Haven't tried 18 yet though.

Do you monitor the core temperature(s)?  I run gkrellm and have its window permanently on screen so I can keep an eye on it, and throttle back cpu until I'm happy.  Having said that, Einstein tasks are usually fine, it's other projects such as PrimeGrid that like to fry them!

Greetings How about Memory

Greetings

How about Memory and disk diagnostics?

(Is disk SSD or hard disk?)

Is the power supply OK and nor over-extended? (if you have a UPS, it might show totalw watts. That can be compared to power supply rating.)

I have run Mint in the past, but now comofortable with Ubuntu Mate 16.04 LTS.

I really like Gnome 2.

I live in Florida - so temperature can be a problem

60°C is my 'red' limit. I cut back the number of active CPUs when tem gets to 57°C.

I also do a shutdown then and vacuum out dust and cat fur. :)

Best Wishes,

Jay
