I have exhausted every attempt to get versions 4.25 and 4.43 to run on 2 machines w/ Window XP SP2 and it just continues to show disconnected. We need an update that will allow it to run after installing SP2. I have posted on help threads to no avail. It just will not connect.

The development version 4.44

The development version 4.44 is supposed to have a bug fix about the disconnected problem. You could give it a try. Just remember, it's developmental and could have other bugs.

I've had success at

I've had success at uninstalling boinc first, install SP2, then reinstalling boinc (4.25, not tried on 4.43). I made a copy of the boinc folder before uninstalling, that way I didn't lose any wu's, and then just copied over the existing folder after reboot. Try just running SP2 firewall without another one - I found two at same time, especially ZoneAlarm products, cause many headaches and require specific tweaks to work properly.

Here's another helpful link on broken apps/fixes for SP2:

That's because you have two apps fighting to do the same thing. Never a good idea, in fact, it can cause security issues on your machine.

If you happen to run Zonealarm, I would bag the XP firewall altogether.
