I was wondering if anyone might know why I was just dumped with 3 s4 wu's after I accidently deleted the s5 app instead of the s4 one when cleaning out the boinc folder...
That also means that I would like a download link for the s4 sse3 exe so I can get rid of these quickly. All the old links are dead.

Just luck. The scheduler's cleaning out S$ WUs that weren't completed whenever they time out.

Per the status page, we're down to 95 S4 WUs with no canonical result.
Wonder if some of those are really 'off the wall' WUs that will have to get max errors before they're purged.
Seti Classic Final Total: 11446 WU.

Dunno, the few I saw yesterday that someone got had been given to a half dozen people to get a result out asap. I've had several results go 6 weeks before getting a cannonical result because they kept being given topeople who dropped, so I wouldn't think anything's wrong yet with these. If they're still unfinished in a few more weeks maybe, but there were 300ish yesterday, and 2 more done in the last 15m so probably not.

Woops. Looks like I just got an S4 myself. Should be done in a little more than an hour or so.

Hey, I just got issued one of the last eight workunits left in the S4 run - and look what a bunch of no-hopers the scheduler has chosen for the re-send! Even my crusty old Celeron has a reasonable production rate in that company.
I've suspended everything else, and I've still got a genuine Akos app on that machine (acceptable for S4, I think?), so you should see a result in less than the 56 hours originally estimated - who knows, it might be the very last WU to report in and complete the run.

I have some of the S4 wus. I was off on a 5 day trip & they were supposed to be done by now. But the power was interrupted and the computer stopped computing. I just returned tonight and discovered this. After restarting I suspended two long S5 wus that were ahead in the queue and should have my 4 S4s done in less than 24 hours.
I'd really like to see S4 completed!

Richard, thank you! I'm very happy to see that S4 is finally closed out and we can start serious postprocessing analysis.

So how long until you'll be able to tell us if there is any signal in the data we processed?
RE: Richard, thank you!

No problem - it's good to see that a 400MHz Celeron, running Windows 98, can still do useful work: it filled the quorum on this WU, just beating a late-starting "AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+"!
It's also good to get the implied endorsement of the Akos app for S4, which did so much to reduce the processing time for the S4 run. As others have noted, the S5 estimates are still stuck at over a year still to run: would it be a worthwhile investment of your valuable time to explore how an optimised application could be made available, without the 'bad science' side effects of the S5 patch saga? Perhaps the approach being used by Simon 'Chicken of Angnor' at SETII - keeping the source code unchanged, but using compiler optimisations - would pass peer review scrutiny?

Yeah. Looking foreward to a report similar to the S3 one.
