Any ideas on what could make video jumpy? It started about a month ago viewing youtube, even at 240p, in Chrome.
Disabling GPU crunching works, which makes sense, except I was running the same settings for most of a year.
Netflix and movies stored on the hard drive run fine though, even at full screen sizes, so now I'm wondering if its more to do with html5.

I had a similar experience while watching a movie on VUDU. Movies are all about bandwidth. For me I had another Boinc machine uploading/downloading WUs while I was watching the movie. When the network storm was over everything smoothed out again. This is especially true if you selected the high def version of the movie. My ISP does not always supply the performance I expect.

Suspending GPU (only, I let CPU tasks run on 2 of 4 cores) wouldn't fix it if it was bandwidth though.
Could be a slow GPU death... I guess thats what I'm afraid of. It needs to last til Christmas! ;) 2 years out of a consumer GPU would be fine. Not seeing any computation errors though, so that is a good sign.

If suspending GPU work fixes the problem than I would agree that it is not a bandwidth issue. But I would think watching a high def movie would challenge your GPU, although you state you had not had problems in the past.

Hi,
I have an AMD with 1GB RAM and I experience the same problems with HD videos.
I think that 1GB is not enough for 2 WUs plus a HD video.
Until I get a 2GB GPU I suspend the GPU WUs when I watch a HD video.

That still may not work, some projects better utilize the gpu if it has more memory/capability. Instead of being able to run more tasks better utilizing the gpu also speeds up the processing of the units, leaving no more then you have now for your hd video. The only way to know for sure is to try it and see on your pc though.

But I can run HD from the hard drive. Very low res youtube does not work. If it was just HD movies, I'd understand.
Its actually been working better the last few days. Very odd.

Next time you do a youtube video check your download speeds, I wonder if youtube is not being as fast as it could be and that is what you are seeing then. Youtube is streaming, not already on the HD is my thinking.
