Go to Boincmgr
Go to the projects tab
select the project for which you wish to stop fetch
click the No New Tasks button.
But your actual problem is that your PC has requested more work than you want.
To adjust that, do this:
1. Go to your account page at Einstein
2. click on the view computers in this account link
3. Note the value shown in the "location" column for the computer of interest (it will be one of the four default, home, school, work)
4. go back to your account page and click on the "computing preferences" link
5. find the location (aka venue) for your computer of interest
6. click the edit preferences link specific to that location
7. review the current values you have for the two work-fetch quantity governing entries
a. "Computer is connected to the Internet about every " days
b. "Maintain enough work for an additional"
8. drastically reduce both of these--consider by a factor of ten.
9. save the change
However, if you have over-ridden the website specified preferences using a local preference, you will instead need to visit the Boincmgr preference over-ride settings located at Tools|Computing preferences|Network preferences
On this page the same two settings exist but with different labels:
a. "minimum work buffer"
b. "max additional work buffer"
