How do I shut down gracefully for vacation?

I would like to finish work units in my queue wihout recieving any new ones before leaving on vacation.
Is there a way to prevent new work units from being added to my queue while completing those that are already there? I assume that if I just suspend operations, someone else will eventually pick up the units I started but didn't finish. I would rather leave a clean slate while I'm gone. Can that be done?

Simply go to the "projects" tab, select the project, and click on "no new tasks", that should do the trick. I hope you enjoy your vacation!

I think this is incorrect. You get the credit even if you tell it not to get new tasks. The old WUs will upload the results and that will end the crunching. Boinc still will communicate with the project by way of uploads until all of the results are in. I'm pretty sure that's what happened when I did this a while back. Perhaps someone else can confirm this.
As to Vern, you might want to consider just letting boinc run while you are out; hate to lose the crunch time. But here are plenty of good reasons to shut down for extended vacations too. :-)

I have set things to deplete projects many times. They do not report at the end. I did not allow it to get near the due time, but I have had to manually report them before shutting down the systems. One was out of work for over 24 hours before I realized. I went to shut down, the results were still waiting to report.

I think you're drawing a faulty conclusion here. I just had one of my hosts finish a result while set to NNT, and it uploaded and reported fine without any intervention on my part.
You do know that it won't happen until one complete connect interval passes unless there is a work request, or of course a manual update before the interval expires.

Yes, that’s my experience. BOINC won’t report the finished work until the usual connection interval has elapsed, unless it’s close to (or past) a deadline. So if you want to shut the host down and be out the door as soon as the last task is complete, Update by all means. But otherwise it should take care of things just fine on its own.
