i've been running the einstein@home project on boinc for a whole day now on an amd2200+ computer. I don't seem to be getting this credit at all.. all the time boinc is taking about 99% of my cpu-usage.. so what's the problem.. i'm running boinc on slackware linux, the terminal window's been saying "2005-03-09 23:47:15 [Einstein@Home] Scheduler RPC to http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/EinsteinAtHome_cgi/cgi succeeded"
for the last 2 hours.. so could someone explain "credit" to me, and if it is a result of computing work, why i am I not getting it. After all, the CPU seems to be working all the time. also the boincgui application seems to show me 0% progress on the einstein@home-thingy and so does the "my account"-site.
i'd like to be a part of the project, but if my computers getting nowhere what's the use. help plz.

How do I get credit?

According to your host ID you have 3 work units, one of them is being crunched. That can take a while. Since BOINC is taking up 99% of your CPU, it is crunching something, I would think.

Crunching things through BOINC is a method of having patience. Its not that you get credit by downloading units. You get credit by downloading a unit, crunching it, uploading the results of what you crunched, then reporting it back to the server (so two actions from your side are needed, the uploading and the reporting), before your unit is claiming credit.

As for getting the credit granted, you best read this FAQ.

If you want to see what is happening, you might want to try the beta version of BOINC CC 4.25 for Linux/x86. That has the Boinc manager, a graphical version of showing what is going on.
