Topic 191040

I have gone to the website mentioned in other posts to attempt to optimise the performance of my Windows driven computer. Either I am following an incorrect post or I have no clue (the most likely explanation) as to how to access the download. Any suggestions???

Oh, are there any progams to increase the performance or productivity for my Mac OS X computer that is also crunching away?

Thanks for the assistance.

Not unless you can: a) get

Not unless you can:

a) get akos a mac, convince him to figure out it's disassembly, and have him write a tweaked version

b) do step 2 yourself (or find mac optimizer someone else to do it for you) and have akos explain how his optimizations work

otherwise you're stuck until Bruce upgrades the E@H server farm and releases new official apps. Even then you might not see much gain initially. the mac compilers were lousy in thier code generation with altivec instructions, and the current version contains a fair ammount of hand crafted assembly which made it 2 or 3x faster than the fully compiled version. If Bruce doesn't have time to do that before the official release you'll only see a 50-100% gain instead of 4x like on other platforms. If I was in Bruce's shoes, I'd be strongly tempted to wait until it was clear akos has ran out of algorithmic optimizations before doing any hand optimization.

Thank all of you for your

Thank all of you for your advice and information! I have impressed over and over again by the willingness to share information. From my vantage point, for the most part, with one notable exception, the community here is a prototype for a global community that can exist in harmony. What a wonderful microcosm for a larger body to emulate.

I have found that in general people do get along, it is the governments that can't seem to coexist!

Don't be over-optimistic. We can also clash over an absolutely idiotic issue. Anyway, it's nice to feel like flying, at least for a short period of time. Good luck.
