The only performance changes I see here is what CPU runs with the different GPU cards (my 660Ti with just an Athlon 635 is the same as my 650Ti with a Phenom 720)
Running tasks X2 here.
(if that is what you mean)
Those 2 are an XP Pro and a Win7 and I have been tempted to switch the cards around with those 2 just to see if the 660Ti improves.
Thanks Magic , I see what your saying. I was toying around with the idea of making this box a dual boot WIN7 64 / XPpro64 . I found a old Dell WINpro64 disk tapped to the inside panel of a defunct comp and thought I would use it because over there it gives a 10 to 12 % in better times.
Ah ok......well I have always liked my XP Pro's but mine have all been X86 and I have 2 of them running over 9 years here now.
Just did GPU and PSU upgrades and you can't do much as far as adding RAM with those (I put 8GB in one and it is recognized but it will only use just over 4GB)
And PSU upgrades just to see how long they will run this OS
I have had those 2 XP OS's running since November 2001 back in the old Seti Classic days.
Ya. When I first saw it I was thinking about the 16g ram I have thinking what waste, but when I realized it was 64bit I perked right up!!
After thought. I swear. I was poking around Ebay the other day looking for some bits and I saw a WINXP PRO 64 with key go for $175. My jaw hit the floor!!
I know GPU performance is decreased with WIN7 WIN8 on GPUGRID.
I don't think such a dramatic effect has been reported here. I suspect GPU-Grid is more vulnerable to this as they require some timely CPU interaction, which can be disturbed by the additional driver overhead in Vista+ (yes, not only since Win 7).
You're welcome to measure and report any differences, though ;)

Yea 32 bit XP does have limited total memory capabilities, I have never used the 64 bit version so don't know about its limitations. Also XP has a horrible memory leak in it that after 30+ days of running can make things slow down alot, this wasn't a problem pre-Boinc days as most people just turned the machine off at night when they walked away from it. I too still have one XP machine running and reboot it once a month after running a malware scan on it, it is a Boinc only machine so doesn't do anything to cause any problems.
XP has other limitations too, such as not being able to use a larger then 2tb hard drive to boot from, but for most people that and its other limitations aren't big deals.
