I just found a new Asus X570 MB for under $100 on eBay. I am highly tempted because this MB only needs a primary gpu slot, an X570 chip set and the best Bios interface (with more granular control) that I have experimented with.
Gave into temptation since it was a small enough purchase I could absorb it in my cashflow.

I need to review the "bidding" again for Ryzen 3950x overclock, CPU temperatures and CPU voltage (manual setting in bios, not reported).

I reduced the total Universe@Home tasks to 28 out of 32 threads available. I have been running the BOINC client/manager at 30 out of 32. The Rtx 3080 using using two threads to run two gpu tasks.
I am currently running CPU Boost on Auto, PBO on Auto and CPU voltage on Auto.
The CPU temperature is down. The CPU voltage is down.
And the U@H tasks are processing faster. The RAC is up. Maybe I will wait on installing that 3950x MB upgrade till I have a longer baseline.
Maybe the critical threshold for U@H for 3950x/5950x is 28 tasks?

I think it depends on the cache hits and misses relating to the cache size per cpu core ie per task, the more misses due to the shared cache the slower the tasks will run. Prime grid talks about this all the time with their 'FFT' numbers of each task. The key is to test different configs until you find the sweet spot for each Project since none are exactly the same. For prime Grid the key is to not use any HT threads as they will almost certainly have alot of cache misses, Intel having, in the past, larger L2 and L3 cache sizes means they are also better for Prime Grid. BUT Ryzen cpu's are making huge inroads into that premise as they expand their line-up.

Good News, Bad News.
Got the MB in. It is very spiffy looking. It really does run my Rtx 3080 at PCIe 4 / Gen4
The Bad News.
The bios has about the same functionality as the b450-F bio (limited).
Covid-19 / Fuzzy Brained / Liberal? strikes again. I failed to research the level of granularity that the bios would have. :(
So will experiment with the same parameters I was trying on the b450-F MB.
And decide if I want to take a stab at running my damaged MSI x570 Godlike MB on the 3950x. It has a full set of "settings" :)

In fresh breaking news an Asus Q code "33" maybe "meanless." I googled around and ran across the comment that nothing seemed to be broken with the "33" displayed.
I am re-running the tests on the "it must run this application" test with the Gravity Wave OS3 (GPU) app since I can't easily lay my hands on GR#1 tasks (of any version from baseline to V1).
So I may have another x570 to play with plus the Godlike MB as another cpu/gpu cruncher candidate.

Tom, I have an ASUS Prime x470-Pro MB and it "seems" to be fine... but after swapping out my [2] 2070S and my 1000W EVGA Supernova 80+ Gold PSU from my 5950X computer to my 3950X computer with the hope of solving my occasional resetting of the 3950X computer, it still will "reset" after running 24/7 in about 3-4 days.
I have lowered my OC on the GPUs to less than they were on my 5950X (with a ROG Crosshair VIII w/WiFi) and also lowered my 3950X CPU back to 4.125 GHz in hopes that it won't reset itself again. I'm inclined to think that if it resets, the only recourse is the replacement of the CPU or the MB, and I'm leaning towards the MB.
Just be aware that while ASUS does make some pretty good MBs, there is a reason that the Prime series MBs (x470 & X570) are considered entry level for those of us who like to OC. After a couple of years, I think I will step up to the same MB that I have in my 5950X computer.

I've always set a max_concurrent = 28 for Universe in an app_config for all my 3950X/5950X hosts.
But I also do both TN-Grid on all my hosts also along with Universe. I also do yoyo on this daily driver along with Universe and TN-Grid.
Gotta leave some room for system processes to not bog down Universe tasks.

I'm very surprised that a X570 board (of any price point) does not have a full featured BIOS.
