Also you can use the zenpower3 driver to get correct voltages, temperatures and currents from the cpu.

And a GUI monitor that can be used instead of sensors in the command line.

Zenmonitor3

You can install the nct6775 kernel driver that is in the stock Ubuntu installation by

sudo apt install nct6775

Nope.  Crashing errors and missing this thats and the others all over the place.

:(

Thank you for the directions.  I just wish I was better at being able to cipher them.

Apparently I still am not very competent to "make" things.  Followed directions (I think) and someplace in the middle of the steps it starts complaining about something wasn't present/built whatever.  I will take another stab after I get over being irritated using the -ignore on the command lines that may or may not have worked.

Ok, I am getting limited results when I re-installed Ubuntu for this ASUS Prime X570-P  MB.

===edit===

If I am going to try to OC the cpu on this MB I need the CPU temperature again.  At least.  Is there a specific URL page I can go to to get "nct6775" to work?  The docs in the Asus-wmi-senors package seems to think that is the one I am looking for, for x570 MB's.  But I can't seem to get it working?

What else am I missing?

I have all the LLC related parameters turned up to "exterme" and it is running at 4.125 MHz with voltage on "auto".  A previous attempt with manual at 1.35 volts caused the cpu to stop boosting at all when boost/pbo were all on AUTO.

So clearly I need more MB instrumentation.  Or imagination?

The good news is after more testing it looks like the x570 MB that I originally bought for the GPU server is fully functional.  Since it does have all the fancy LLC stuff it may get turned into the CPU server instead.

But I still have to get some solid/complete MB instrumentation working or OCing the 3950x is going to be even more "try and hope" that it has been.

Have you rebooted since

Have you rebooted since modprobing the nct6775.ko kernel driver module?

Since it is a kernel module, you obviously must reload the kernel you just modified.

I'm curious why you never installed the kernel module in the first place when you installed lm-sensors.

Did you not probe your hardware during its installation and then accept the installers offer to automatically install the nct6775 driver?

What do you think about AMD's

What do you think about AMD's latest CPU upgrade(s)?

Am5 socket, more iGPUs on more models of CPU Chips, higher clock speeds, etc.

Here.

Surprised that all Ryzen 7000

Surprised that all Ryzen 7000 cpus get an igpu now.  Guess they wanted parity with Intel on that issue.

But find it funny that they will also support AVX-512 now, a standard always promoted as an advantage by Intel on their processors.  But Intel now has removed AVX-512 support from their latest Alder Lake cpus so now AMD has that advantage.

But I do not like the trend to only supporting a single or if lucky two PCIe slots on the X670 mainboards now.

Going backwards in my opinion and forcing me away from Desktop consumer boards to the workstation boards that they haven't even hinted at yet.

For example, I have been very happy with my ASUS Crosshair VII Hero boards now for 5 years now.  But I see I won't be purchasing the X670 Crosshair board because it only has two PCIe slots.

I'd better buy another CH8 MB

I'd better buy another CH8 MB soon before they all dry up for the same reasons.

Ah well, what's another $400 ?   Might as well add another 5950X while I'm at it.

Yes, buy the 5950X which has been selling for $300 less than original MSRP.  A bargain in my opinion.

Apparently I lost count of that MSRP for the 5950x. Because I came out with $450 which I have not seen.

I think I have seen some 3950x for that price though.
