Topic 230408

I get "Forbidden - You don't have permission to access this resource." when I try to search the forums for more than one word at a time.  This happens whether or not I use 'AND'.

???

Thanks.

I, too, have experienced this

Yes, using + works (is necessary) for multi-word searches. Thanks for that tip.

Ideas are not fixed, nor should they be; we live in model-dependent reality.

Just a couple

Just a couple points:

1. You shouldn't have to do that for the search engine. I've never seen any other project with that issue. I wouldn't expect it with a senior project like Einstein.

2. How would somebody know to do that without digging into the forums? I just happened to pop in this forum and notice this topic at the bottom of the list before making a post. If I were a simple user, I probably would have made a post about it at Cafe Einstein.

Hi Yavanius !

Since this is "senior project like Einstein", it has been around a long time.  And I do remember 'back in the day' that we had to do just that for a search engine to work.  Also, for a "simple user" this is the best place to post questions about Problems and Bug Reports such as this.

And I also agree...  before it is even said...  that maybe it's time to update the search engine to more current standards.

Or at the very least to fix the Help section so it advises people to put a plus and NOT spaces between words.

+1

You can't search the forum for the search, if you don't know how to search, right? A pinned thread so it would not go down over time would also do the trick, I believe.
