I would like
- structured discussion inside a thread (answer to the answer to the answer ...)
- allowing to ALL writers editing their own contributions
- alert in BOINC Manager under "Notices" in case of important News and Technical News

This is a feature that would become available when we switch to the Drupal forums (as already in use on Albert@Home). We're still working on that, but recently encountered another major obstacle that has to do with compatibility of available software (versions of PHP and Drupal).

Everyone should be able to edit his own post for an hour. Changing that is difficult to do in current web code, it might be possible with reasonable effort in the Drupal code.

This might, however, cause quite some confusion when a post is edited after being referenced elsewhere.

For important (project) news this should already be the case. Any change to that behavior would require a change to the BOINC Manager and can't be done by the project alone.

What kind of news people consider important is certainly "relative", i.e. differs between people. Early on when notices were first discussed and implemented in BOINC I therefore proposed a more flexible and user-configurable way to tell the manager whet the user wants to be notified about, but this proposal was rejected. Since back then, things on the BOINC side haven't changed for the better, so although I also still regard this as a desirable feature I don't think it will be implemented in the foreseeable future.
