excessive RPC

The issue is one of excessive calls for WUs I get on my dialup system. Basically I download WUs to crunch at night while I sleep. Then I disable network access to avoid error messages after I disconnect my dialup. In the morning I reconnect the network to upload results and download more WUs. This actually is not so much a problem since it doesn't affect downloads, but I don't want to look like a bad client wasting server time with excessive/unnecessary calls! Typical message is below:

2004-11-18 06:06:52 - Resuming network activity
2004-11-18 06:06:52 - May run out of work in 0.40 days; requesting more

Then it's work as normal!

excessive RPC

Are you referring to the line - 2004-11-18 06:07:03 - Message from server: Not sending work - last RPC too recent: 6 sec?

If you are, it's probably because once you connect and enable network access, the boinc client automatically tries to connect to the server. Not sure if you manually hit "Update Project" at the same time but in most cases I wouldn't worry about it. The RPC delays were written specifically to stop the flooding of the servers so they're working as intended. :)

That and the fact it requests work three times in the span of a few minutes. I didn't manually "Update Project" but in any case it's good to know that it's probably not affecting the servers much. I seem to be seeing the "last RPC too recent" message a bit more lately so I figured I'd mention it.
