Alas Chipper Q, no. I'll have to refer you back to my previous post for contemplation. But I do have to admit that your answer was an excellent effort... gl

I'll post a clue in a couple of days or so.

In that case, I infer that there must be other solutions besides what I came up with, and hence the correct answer is: No, the unique original diagram cannot be determined from only the information that was given. Is that better?

M M M D C

L X X X I

I I

sum = Prime # 6162
All numbers are squares

There is only one solution that I'm aware of for this puzzle and it is solvable from the info at hand. Look to my next post and I'll go ahead and try crack it open slightly without giving the whole thing away.

Congratulations Rod Gallant!

Congratulations Rod Gallant! You got the answer on your second submission.

Ok, since it's been solved once already, I'll throw a clue out: Do as the Romans do (did) and "spell" out the answer.

Crikey, if you asked me what this year is in Roman numerals, I'd have to go look it up; now that I see the 'trick', I'll content myself with being wrong... twice... oh, the horror...

Seriously, congrats to Rod, good job on that one!

Feel free to wait a while for any other takers, but I'm ready for the next one anytime :)

I have too much time on my hands right now too, so I'm putting together another one. I'll have it posted in a few.

(I just used GIMP to make it quick and dirty, so excuse the "offness" of the puzzle blank.)

Each number must have its digits in increasing numerical order. Zero can be used to follow nine and can not be used to begin a number. For example: 78901, 9012, etc. No worries with this puzzle, there are no archaic nuances involved this time. :)

-edit- Again, please post your answer in BBCode size 2.

I think there are 9 different

I think there are 9 different solutions, depending on which number you start with, not counting 0. I started with 1 and came up with:

Line 1: 1234, 678
Line 2: 23, 5, 789
Line 3: 345678, 0
Line 4: 67, 901
Line 5: 567, 90
Line 6: 6, 890123
Line 7: 789, 1, 34
Line 8: 890, 2345
