Einstein@Home scheduler URL changed

The URL of the Einstein@Home scheduler was changed. Clients should automatically adjust to that, there is no real need for manual intervention. Until the Clients have recognized that change, you may see "file not found" error messages. The Clients should recognize the new scheduler URL after 10 such failures. If you want to speed things up, you may "update" the project manually a few times to skip the automatic backoff time.

Einstein@Home scheduler URL changed

Not sure if this is related or not but my E@H credit count for "today's" period (61,275,961) is 1 credit less than yesterdays (61,275,962). Normally I would see about a 100K increase over yesterday. Are statistics not being reported to boincstats?

[Edit] A manual update on all nodes downloaded new WUs.

I'm also missing a lot of credits in my Boincstats statistic although the tasks were reported as validated at my Einstein account. And regarding the status schedulers at Boincstats Einstein is still being reported as "offline". Perhaps Boincstats has to update the URL for its Einsten statistics?

But the -1 credit difference, ehm... Maybe some sort of penalty was applied? ;-)

You seem to foreward from the old scheduler URL to the new one but for some reason this results in this message :

"error in request message: no start tag"

so the foreward could as well be dropped.

Where precisely do you see this message? The PermanentRedirect apparently works for most of the BOINC Clients (thanks to the underlying CURL lib).

Boinc 5.10.28, that dates from 2007, probably an Alpha/Beta version, there's been at least one Curl Bug found since then, Boinc 5.10.30 had two Curl fixes, (there's been others since):

- DEP: Update libCurl to 7.17.1

- Fix build break introduced by new libcurl headers on Windows.

BOINC 5 versions Change Log

It is really time you upgraded, Boinc 7.2.42 is the latest Recommended and has very few problems.

Not Alpha/Beta ... but you're

Not Alpha/Beta ... but you're right, it is not exactly the latest version ... but way newer than 4.29, which didn't use cURL at all ;-)

Detach/Attach helped of course, that enforced a re-evaluation of the master file and gave me the fresh scheduler location.

Just out of curiousity ... I'm using the Apache RewriteEngine for some quite special forewards, would that be affected by such a cURL bug too?

I beg to differ, Boinc 5.10.28 was announced on the Boinc alpha list for testing on 29th Oct 2007, It was not a recommended release,
Boinc 5.10.45 was the recommended release for the 5.10.x line, anything before that will have been Alpha builds for testing the latest fixes, before moving onto the next build:

Quote:

•[boinc_alpha] BOINC 5.10.28 released for Windows and Windows x64

Howdy Folks,

This release contains a bug fix for systems that have
problems uninstalling a previous version of BOINC. The new installer
should ignore errors from the older uninstaller and attempt to install
the new BOINC anyway. Another change involves being able to specify how
large your log files can get.

As always log bugs to http://boinc.berkeley.edu/trac and
log test results to http://boinc.berkeley.edu/alpha.

Change Log:

- client: add and

cc_config.xml options to change log file size limit

from the default of 2 MB

Mac: Fix bugs in scripts for building wxMac-2.6.3; fix XCode project

when using debug build of wxMac-2.6.3.

- MGR: Fixed broken URLs in the Help menu. The URLs are only broken
if the

Manager was built with the wxWidgets unicode variant.

Boinc 5.10.x was finally released on 11th March 2008:

Quote:

•[boinc_alpha] BOINC 5.10.45 released as the new stable build for all platforms

BOINC 5.10.45 is now the new stable release for all platforms.

This release is a bug fix release which includes fixes for better proxy
support through the use of the configuration option in
cc_config.xml which is defined here:

http://boinc.berkeley.edu/trac/wiki/ClientMessages

This release also contains fixes for startup/shutdown issues when
running on Windows Vista.

Enjoy.

Hallo! I´m using BOINC

Hallo!
I´m using BOINC 7.2.42(x64) but still the response time especially for the "Discussion Forum" is unsatisfactory long with 20 to 30 sec at me. For the "Server Status Page" it´s with about 1 sec good, similar for "Your Computer", but for the "List of Tasks" it is with 5 to 6 sec a bit slow at me.

Kind regards and happy crunching

This is unrelated to your BOINC version. It's a problem on the server side.
It is being discussed in this thread and Bernd is working on a fix. For me at least the forum is much snappier today, so maybe he has already done something.

I'm guessing it is THIS PC since some tasks have timed out.

1) Open BOINC
2) click on Projects tab, highlight/click on line for Einstein@home
3) click on Update button
4) wait one - two minutes to see if it has started sending or has finished reporting the completed tasks.
Once it has sent the tasks it will have received the new scheduler address...
If not, repeat steps 2, 3 & 4. This might have to be repeated up to 10 times due to the way BOINC was created.

If even a re-install doesn't

If even a re-install doesn't help, multiple updates won't help either.

How long does the front page http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/ take to load in a browser on the computer in question?

Do you get a "http error" in the Client before the "No scheduler URLs found" message?

10/26/2014 11:42:38 AM | Einstein@Home | work fetch resumed by user
10/26/2014 11:42:39 AM | Einstein@Home | Sending scheduler request: To fetch work.
10/26/2014 11:42:39 AM | Einstein@Home | Requesting new tasks for NVIDIA
10/26/2014 11:42:39 AM | Einstein@Home | update requested by user

Well I can't get to connect

Well I can't get to connect either,
Logs show:-

28/01/2015 17:15:45 | Einstein@Home | Scheduler request failed: Couldn't connect to server
28/01/2015 17:15:58 | | Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site
28/01/2015 17:15:59 | | Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down.

So there is some sort of comms failure.
