when do you make projects compiled in 64 bits, for VISTA x64 ? (cause i'm BOINC x64, with CPU x64 core2duo) but there's no many projects compiled in 64 bits!
With projects in 64 bits, data will be calculated 2 times more quickly.

Einstein@home in 64 bits

Not necessarily. The FPU is still the same size, and since most projects are FPU intensive, the 64 bit processor will give very little extra. In fact it may hinder at times, because of the extra memory overhead needed.
So, do not assume things will run faster just because you got the new software.
There is plenty of ways to run the software on your 64 bit machines, just read the "Problems and Bug Reports" area and it's explained in there (ad nausea).

Yup, look at the sticky items near the top.
The workaround described there which is currently needed to get 32 bit Einstein@Home clients running under 64 operating systems will soon be obsolete, an update of the server software to automate this should happen any day now.

Planet 3D Now (AMD User Forum)
SetiAtHome Germany / E@H Unterforum
Die wichtigsten Neuigkeiten finden in der Regel schnell ihren Weg auch in diese und ähnliche Foren.
Viel Spaß trotzdem noch bei Einstein@Home

I would be happy if project

I would be happy if project starts working on my 64-bit Linux PC. Currently work units are not sent to it at all.
In BOINC, there are two ways to solve this problem from project authors side:
1. Send 32-bit applications to 64-bit Linux clients (As WCG and SETI do)
2. Send true 64-bit application to 64-bit Linux clients (As Tanpaku or ABC do)
First way will give you more members - there are many ppl with 64-bit Linux computers, I believe.
Second way will need more effort, but usually there is a performance gain, which varies depending on type of calculations. Tanpaku works about 10% faster under 64-bit environment, and ABC works exactly twice faster.

See this workaround for Einstein. You should adjust the download links and app_info.xml file to the correct version number, for Linux it's 4.38 at this time. (Or 4.43 if you want to use the beta app)
RE: RE: I would be happy

I know the project staff are aware of this and plan to enable the automatic 32-bit "fallback" distribution real soon now.

RE: when do you make

hi!
well...foremost: twice the bits WON'T do twice the job.
anyway: because of the core2-chip being designed for notebooks, it has really poor 64bit performance (working with optimized code and compared to what could be if the design wasn't so bad with 64bit and also compared to opterons, which really rock 64bit smp : )
for core2: stay with 32bit if crunching float(what i suppose einstein does)
for opteron (especially barcelona): hope for 64bit projects ^^ IF there is any use to the particular project crunching in 64bits.
BOINC shows under thessage

BOINC shows under thessage tab:
19.09.2007 03:15:34|Einstein@Home|Scheduler RPC succeeded [server version 601]
Can I expect with this server version, that I can use for example 64bit Vista with a 64bit BOINC client for Einstein? I mean, that the server sends the 32bit application to me?
