Recently with end of stored SETI work my PCs switched to backup project, Einstein@home in my case.

One of them experiences great HDD swapping activity (4 tasks run ~400MB each and x86 OS installed). But, perhaps, consumed memory amount can not be reduced for that type of search.

Unfortunately, it's not the only issue I encountered after switching to Einstein@home. Another PC with Corei5 + 2 NV GPUs experience lockups.
After few reboots, switch to safe mode and NV drivers reinstallation I managed to boot it and exited BOINC before freeze.
So, can make at least partial bug report:
einsteinbinary_BRP4G_1.39_windows_intelx86__BRP4G-cuda32 process remained running after BOINC exit. And I can't kill it via TaskManager. PC experiences great lags, time to time mouse activity and keyboard input freeze completely for ~10-20 seconds (!). So, to type this text took quite a lot of time.
Perhaps I should disable NV GPUs (GSO9600 and GT9400) from einstein's work that would be quite unfortunate.
Maybe some another NV-based app exists for Einstein project to carry another type of search, w/o freezing PC?

It seems this issue was caused not by particular app but by GPU state itself. Power cord extender was damaged. After replacement seems to work OK.

LOL. Let that be a lesson to us all - expect the unexpected, and consider all possibilities before jumping to conclusions. Especially when giving advice to others.....

Glad you got it back in business.
