I'm new to E@H, but have been running SETI with no problems on BOINC v4.19. It looks like Einstein wu's are disappearing off my work log without being finished. I've seen 3 or 4 wu's download and start processing, but none even close to finish, and no credit has come my way. What's going on? I do stop and start BOINC from time to time, but that doesn't seem to affect SETI at all.
System: WinXP home/sp2, P4 1.7 g., 235 meg. sdram, no BOINC add-ons or utilities.
I'm not a major geek and don't know detailed computer ops so simple solutions, if any, will be nice. Thanks for any help!

You've elected to keep your computers hidden so it's a bit difficult to have a look at your results list to try to see what might be happening. Any particular error messages in your Boinc messages log?

Cheers,
Gary.

Hi Gary,
I made my computer visible, and I found the following 2 lines from the log that I don't usually see:

Einstein@Home - 2005-03-12 21:15:39 - Unrecoverable error for result H1_1198.4__1198.9_0.1_T05_Test02_3 (One or more missing files)

--- - 2005-03-12 21:50:42 - Can't resolve hostname einstein.aei.mpg.de (valid name, no data record of requested type)

I've now got 2 units on board, one in progress. I'll try to keep and eye on them today.

It looks like you had a

It looks like you had a couple of Client Errors on 1 computer, once you get the error the client is probably connecting to the server and the WU is flushed then ... Other than that everything looks normal ...

Ok I can now see two computers so your box has been registered twice. Go to your account on the website and click on "view computers". You will see two IDs listed. The second one was created 2 days ago on March 11. If you "view" this computer you will find a link down the bottom of the page which will allow you to "merge" this 2nd ID with the first. I haven't had to do it but I believe that's what it's for. If you only really have one box it would be a good idea to merge the second with the first.

Let's then see what happens when the fresh results finish.

Cheers,
Gary.

I faced, the same Problem (for eah), because sometimes there "think" there send two results (within 2 minutes), but just one is shown in the list.

It could be that this Problem is dependent on the first joining process, I've on some Computer the problem that the first try fails, after the second try work then fine. I've wondering that I see these Computer, then twice in the list?!?

Christopher, The problem

Christopher,

The problem that you reported (hostname einstein.aei.mpg.de not found) indicates a networking problem on your machine which caused the workunits to fail, since the input data could not be downloaded.

Open a command-line window and try 'ping einstein.aei.mpg.de'. If this command doesn't work, you have a networking problem and need to fix it. If it does work, the problem you experienced should not recurr.
