Probably depends on the urgency of the deadlines for the projects. BOINC is now doing more EAH work 'cos it's due earlier than SETI. The settings are a guideline for long term behaviour - BOINC has a pretty complex algorithm/method for achieving this, which has been well tested, so it's generally best to let it run and decide for itself...

My BOINC 5.10.45 is managing 7 projects, all with the same share but with differente deadlines and it is doing it very impartially. There is only one project which behaves unruly because it does not have checkpointing and once it grabs one of the two cores of my Opteron 1210 running Linux it won't leave it until it finishes a task. That is AQUA, but its developers have promised to produce a checkpointing app in the near future. The only problem with it is that if power fails or you must reboot for any cause you lose all work done so far. But it happened to me only once, also AQUA tasks often end after a short time. They simulate a quantum computer, whether this really exists or not.

what would interest me: How do you know that SETI will get 10-16 % and E@H 65-80% of your CPU seconds? I know of no obvious way to get this information. What IS readily available is the average credit you earn in each project, and that seems to be roughly consistent with a 50 : 50 resource share (SETI and E@H have roughly comparable credit granting rates). So I really don't see an indication of a long-term imbalance between the projects.

No indication that any project is running at priority - in fact there is plenty of time before either project is due. I've been running BOINC for over a year and this is a first time problem.

I think you are seeing a short time thing, not a long term trend. Windows will adjust resources as it sees fit, but over time Boinc should even things out.

Perhaps you're right - but it's been going on now for 2 days and I can't any work done because almost all cycles are being used up! I reset preferences to 40% of CPU for both Einstein and SETI to see if it makes a difference. But I was under the impression if I set 80% for each but only gave each 50%, that neither would exceed 40% if both were running. Guess that was a bad assumption?
