Is E@Home going nuts?

Sorry if I am rude, but I just checked my computer and I am not very happy with what I see:

- Einstein@Home just generated a new CPID (I think that means I have to attach to all the projects I had participated in to get the stats back in line)

- 25 ghost Wus

- 4 validate errors so far

I halted E@Home for the moment. I hope the admins get the project back in great shape it used to be. Einstein was the most stable project for a very long time. But that's life, isn't?

Best Regards

Is E@Home going nuts?

1.) Yes a forked CPID can happen from time to time. However, if you're still able to login to your account with your usual credentials (which I'm assuming is true since you were able to post), I wouldn't go reattaching to your other projects at this point if they're still working. The forked CPID will only effect what shows on the third party stat sites, and should re-sync itself shortly if you leave it alone.

2.) It's possible there may be some residual "ghosts" from EAH with all the trouble they had. However the project has the ability to resend them for the most part. They may not get resent in strict chronological order and/or the RID/WUID order, but they should get resent eventually. I am seeing this on one of my hosts as well.

3.) Yes, it's unfortunate there may be some validate errors, but it's not too suprising given the fileserver stability problems they've had. Most likely this was due to irrecoverably corrupted data file uploads and/or result reports. OTOH that's an occupational hazard with BOINC, or even personal computing in general.

On 1/10, when my computers were able to report to EAH the work they had done over the previous several days, they reported around 5700 claimed credits. By the end of 1/10, the statistics page in BOINC Manager showed an increase in my User Total of about 5330 of those (the remaining were still pending at that point). But that increase doesn't yet show up in the third party stat sites. Can I assume that what you said explains that as well and, if I'm patient for a little while, it should re-sync and show up there eventually?

Thanks,
Leland.

Yes. If it shows up inside the client (and on this website) it will eventually reach the stats-sites as well.

The stats are created usually

The stats are created usually every 12 hours on Einstein, but with server issues, it has taken longer at times. Then the stats site needs to download and parse the data to update their site.

It's not instantaneous. It takes time. Some projects update only once every 24 hours. I heard there are some that are even less often.

So, your stats on Einstein will probably never match the stats site, unless you quit crunching.
