Not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but this is the best forum I could find for it.
I seem to have a split account. Both of them have the user tame techsy730 (though with different casing)
My current one is the one with more credits (UID: 509100)
The other one is one I apparently made a LONG time ago (back in 2006), but still has a thousand or so credits to its name (UID: 202096)
The problem is, I can't remember which email I used to create the old account.
Is it possible to merge the old account into the new one? I can PM any additional information (aside from the email address for the account, of course) needed to verify that I am the rightful holder of that account.

BOINC accounts can't be merged. So, even if you could remember the old email address and wanted to see the early join date in your posts, you'd have to abandon the 55,000 credits that have accumulated on your new(er) account.

Apparently that isn't entirely and totally true anymore:

Now it may depend on the Server side software etc, etc, etc, but apparently it CAN be done now!

That may require the tools in changeset [trac]changeset:23006[/trac], which was rapidly disabled by [trac]changeset:23022[/trac] for fear of abuse. If so, it'll have to wait until the proposed server software upgrade here has taken place - Einstein doesn't like to make changes like that until the new features are stable and thoroughly tested.

Plus project administrators with access to the database should be able to stop you having access to any of your accounts, by changing the password and the account key on the account. Deleting of accounts is still frowned upon as it could corrupt the database.
In Mikey's example, Hardy is a project administrator with database access.
And you've got me to thank that the delete account option is disabled, as anyone with access to your account, legitimate or not, could delete your account and all your credit etc. without so much as a check on who you were.

As stated you cannot delete your account but what you can do is go in and change all the personal data to junk so neither you nor anyone else can access the account any more. Change the user name to some unintelligible, change the email address to something made up and your account is no longer tied to you individually.
Also as stated earlier Hardy IS an Admin over at Malaria and ONLY Admins can do what he did, he did not delete an account he merged two accounts that a single user had mistakenly created.

Seven years have passed since the question was asked whether accounts can be merged.
I assume that each account would need to have the same email address (for security reasons).
Does anyone know whether this is now possible?

Accounts cannot be merged. Old accounts may be deleted by going to Account -> Credentials -> Delete Account.
Before you do so, you may merge hosts by going to the host's page and clicking Merge at the bottom. It will search and attempt to find hosts which the system believes are duplicates and will allow you to merge them together. You should do this on hosts of the account you wish to keep.
The userid number is not something that can be changed. You may change your BOINC display name in Account -> Preferences -> Community.
Lastly, please don't respond to old threads. Generating a new forum post is not onerous on our systems and is preferred.
