Does anyone know how to kick BOINC back into operation after installing a new version?

I have tried everything I know, but everything I try and do doesn't seem to 're' attach to projects thus the three projects I was supporting no longer have my processing.

I did this as I have just upgraded my LAN and now have three PCs all working on it (will be 6 eventually).

But I cannot get BOINC ver4.45 to 'see' any of the projects, I am using the ZONEALARM PRO firewall and it has full (even server) access to the internet.

Can anyone help me?

I am disababled and can't waste hours trying to 'fix' things that shouldn't get broken in the first place, I was astonished to find that BOINC couln't simply upgrade from 4.19 to 4.45.

I had a similar problem with ver 4.25 and had to revert back to 4.19, but I am reluctant to do this all again as it will again 'kill' and not reinstate all my projects and I'd have to re-register all my projects as a new user again.

This is very frustrating, they want our help but don't try very hard do they?

Are you sure you installed the new version to the same directory as the old? The uninstall leaves the files behind that it needs to pick up where it left off.

I have never had a problem with the new version not attaching to the projects. I have had the client_state.xml file get corrupted and cause a project reset(reattach) to all projects.

I've not had

I've not had problems.

Something that I did have a problem with was when I "upgraded" my LAN and fitted a router was the router and ZoneAlarm seemed to have a falling out. I had all kinds of troubles and eventually removed, like de-installed ZoneAlarm. Just "turning it off didn't help. After that, I had no further problems. The hardware firewall in the router works fine.

i use the SYGATE personal

i use the SYGATE personal firewall...and it doesn't seem to be a fussy as ZONE ALARM...it's a free download if you want to try it...all i can say is make sure you've uninstalled 4.19...before you install 4.45...try repeating the process...maybe it'll work for you next time.

I'm assuming it's 4.45 you gave access to the internet? Unless you've set your BOINC preference on ZoneAlarm to "changes frequently", you'll need to give it permission each time you upgrade.
