“Dark matter accounts for around 85% of all the universe’s mass but we have not been able to detect it so far – despite building more and more powerful detectors,” said physicist Professor Chamkaur Ghag of University College London. “We are now getting close to the limits of our detectors and if they do not find dark matter in the next few years, we may have to accept there is something very wrong with the way we think about the universe and about gravity.”

".... there is something very wrong with the way we think about the universe and about gravity."

I think our problems ( "Dark" Energy/Matter ) arise because we lie within the very thing we wish to describe, and we are thus not able to sense some important features in the context of the universe. That is : we would have to be outside of the universe to understand it's evolution fully.

"Cosmic Inflation" is a good example of our ignorance. While we may propose that the early universe superluminally expanded - a concise and accurate hypothesis as far as it goes - we have not the least idea of the cause. Like most reductionist approaches it raises rather more questions than it answers.

So it is good to see a professor who will point out the emperor's new clothes .... :-)

Cheers, Mike.

I have made this letter longer than usual because I lack the time to make it shorter ...

In my humble opinion dark

In my humble opinion dark matter is not made up from elementary particles such as wimps. Even ordinary matter, neutrons and protons is made up of some constituents which are not elementary particles, such as quarks (partons) and gluons.

I agree with this and think the problem is we need another "genius" to come along with a way to look at the problem differently than using the current testing methods. I mean we can create testers to find this that and everything else but as Gary suggested we need a way to see what we can't see.

I've read that the Aurora

I've read that the Aurora exacomputer now in building stage will be dedicated to dark matter search by the usual method of running simulations. But this is still the old paradigm, we need a new paradigm.
