Hello
Just a somewhat daft question..
In the results section of my account, each WU is done in a certain amount of cpu time. Is that supposed to be identical to cpu time in the BOINC Manager, or is the boinc manager telling me how long I have taken to do the WU, while the results section on the server shows the length of the WU in cpu cycles ?
Hummm - 34,101.89 is the time taken accord to the server, yet time and again I see a time closer to 9 hours and 25 minutes. Maybe my maths is up the pole ? or is there some bug here - just for the record, the next WU I am working on right now shows 98% at 9 hours and 16 minutes.

Just an final comment: for a WU finished today (24 July) 9 hours 28 minutes, but the server cpu time is 34,178.88 which should be 9 hours 50 minutes. That is quite a gap, if both are telling me the same thing.

Check your math: 9 hours, 50 minutes is 35,400 seconds; 9 hours, 28 minutes is 34,080 seconds.

I agree:
34,178.88/3600=9.49 hrs
.49*60=29 mins
So, the time is 9hrs and 29mins

Thanks guys - never did like maths much in school and now it shows... grin

Edit - at least I can just look at the manager for the times in future - also good to know that the fiddling over the last week is slowly paying off...

I think something’s amiss with your arithmetic. Are you perhaps reading a figure expressed in decimal hours (9.4941 h) as if it were in sexagesimal (9h 49m 41s)? I make 34178.88 seconds out to 9:29:38.88 in hours, so the discrepancy is only about a minute and a half. Reality check: nine hours is 32400 seconds; subtracting that from the total leaves 1778.88 s, which is just under 30 minutes (1800 s).
Your previous 34101.89 likewise comes to 9:28:21.89, three and a half minutes more than 9:25. I'm not sure about the cause of the discrepancy; it might be that BOINC Manager is reporting its last time-check before the WU is finished, or that it fails to account for a certain amount of ‘overhead’.
