What are the size of the CUDA Tasks being served? I presently do not accept CUDA Tasks from E@H because originally they were HUGE and therefor grabbed the GPU (for hours on end) to the exclusion of any other Project, e.g., SETI@Home which serves smaller GPU Tasks (usually in the area of 10~20 minutes GPU time) and thus allows it to play well with others.

Or, has BOINC finally managed to handle GPU Task switching in a manner similar to CPU Task switching?

Thanks,
Tom

CUDA Task Size

Please define what you mean by size. To be literal - yes, they are large, eight x 4 MB files for a 32 MB total download.

But from the rest of your post, I suspect you mean 'long-running'. I'm finding that mine (9800GT WinXP, 420M Win7/64) finish in a bit under two hours.

How far back are you looking? BOINC got GPU task switching running a long time ago - so long, that I've forgotten when. I'm sure the long-recommended v6.10.58 was OK in that regard, and the current v6.12.34 certainly is.

With the exception of those large downloads, I'd say that Einstein has been fine for CUDA crunching since the release of the BRP3 app in January 2011 (announcement).

Well, it's been a long time since I've abandoned running GPU Tasks from E@H.

Thanks for the information. I'll enable E@H to do GPU Tasks and see how it works out. The last time I tried it I seem to recall that GPU Tasks would run about the same amount of time as a CPU Task (8~10 hours) which meant that a lot of the SETI@Home GPU Tasks simply expired.

Thanks again.

Yes 32MB is very much for one

Yes 32MB is very much for one of my standalone boinc machines (2GPUs) witch is only connected via 9GB/Month HSDPA USB Modem. So i must switch manually twice a week between Seti and Einstein because 64(?) Tasks need min 3GB. Any possibility to minimize that a little bit? ^^

Aboutruntimes, one of my 9800GTX+ Cards makes a WU in ~75 Mins. So they have a short enough running time now :)
