So I am setting Einstien up on my Macbook and I only want to use the GPU (Intel) so first thing I did was set the host location for this machine on the website to be work then under Einstien preferences for work I selected no for CPU and then yes for Intel GPU.

Now when I run it boinc still downloads CPU units? any ideas why? I have asked the client to communicate a few times now but every time I reset it keeps downloading them?, No GPU units though as yet?

Don't know about the CPU jobs but you don't get GPU jobs since you have an Intel GPU and E@H don't have iGPU apps for OSX. Windows only I'm afraid.

While you phrase this in the progressive tense implying a continuing behavior, the actual task list for your Darwin host shows a single set of six tasks, all listing sent times the same to the second.

I'll guess that

1. the decision to send you these tasks was made before your changes of location and work preference had taken effect.

2. if interrupted in the middle, an already scheduled task download will resume or try again in some circumstances.

It would be worth checking to see that the web site thinks you have the location set as you wish, but otherwise this was likely a one-time incident on the path to your preferences taking effect.

As to GPU jobs on this host, it seems likely that it is not equipped with a GPU which Einstein can use. Others may correct me, but I'm not aware that there are tasks available for Intel Iris Graphics running under Darwin.

One useful place to check for

One useful place to check for Einstein work request details is a location formed from the Einstein machine idea which gives details of the work request and response dialog. Only the most recent handshake is shown (though sometimes one seems missing).

Here is a link to that page for your Darwin machine.

As you can see, work was requested for an Intel GPU (and none for CPU on this handshake), but none was found to be available.

Just went thru this myself.

Just went thru this myself. In addition to the buttons you selected there is also a button that when selected will send CPU work wen GPU work is not available. This button is toward the bottom of the screen.
