Over here in the UK it

Over here in the UK it depends very much where you live, what Company you are with, what tariff you are on, whether you are dual fuel, and if you use online billing. I am with British Gas for Dual fuel with online billing, and their Click Energy 6 with EnergySmart tariff.

Electricity - first 63 kWh x 19.827p/kWh (0.227€)
Next kWh x 8.077p/kWh (0.092€)

Gas - first 235 kWh x 7.122p/kWh (0.081€))
Next kWh x 3.294p/kWh (0.037€)

I'm coming to the end of my fixed deal so I will be shopping around.

{Hmmm should I move to Spain??? :-)) }

Waiting for Godot & salvation :-)

Well, my father was a Captain

Well, my father was a Captain in the Alpine Corps and came back from Russia during last war. But many good soldiers never returned and are buried there.

You need to be more consistent in your comparisons, either way though Russia isn't 14 wide. If you count by used time zones the US is 6 or 7 (-4 or -5 to -10, depending on if Puerto Rico counts) timezones wide vs Russia's 11 (+2 to +12). If you count by geographic occupancy the US is 9 to 11 wide (-4 to -12, +11, or +10, depending on exactly where the westernmost Aleutian lies and if you count the Marianas islands or not) while Russia is 13 (+1 to -11).

Although our provincial

Although our provincial government is trying hard to mess it up, BC (Canada) is still doing pretty good for power (and most of it is Hydro-electric):

Quote:
Based on BC Hydro's Fiscal 2011 revenue requirement application, effective April 1, 2010, residential customers pay 6.27 cents per kWh for the first 1,350 kWh they use over a two-month billing period. Above that amount, customers pay 8.78 cents per kWh for the balance of the electricity used during the billing period.

Of course, that doesn't include other random fees and rate riders. (Canadian dollar is currently about par with the US).
