Can anyone tell me where the computer location is hiding in the BOINC or Einstein@Home files? I have the project location for Einstein@Home set for Work. But every time the Boinc Manager communicates with E@H, it shows the computer location as Home.
2/16/2012 4:00:17 PM Einstein@Home Computer location: home
2/16/2012 4:00:17 PM Einstein@Home General prefs: no separate prefs for home; using your defaults
2/16/2012 4:00:17 PM Reading preferences override file
2/16/2012 4:00:17 PM Preferences:
2/16/2012 4:00:17 PM max memory usage when active: 5732.67MB
2/16/2012 4:00:17 PM max memory usage when idle: 6961.10MB
2/16/2012 4:00:17 PM max disk usage: 10.00GB
2/16/2012 4:00:17 PM max CPUs used: 5
2/16/2012 4:00:17 PM (to change preferences, visit the web site of an attached project, or select Preferences in the Manager)
2/16/2012 4:00:22 PM Not using a proxy
I have updated the project preferences multiple times and the deleted any preferences for Home for E@H. I only have preferences set for Work. In my account settings for my computers, the location is shown for Work. I have started the BOINC Manager client software multiple times.
My frustration is that I can't seem to limit the amount of work E@H downloads and the project is not respecting my hard drive space limitation I have set. I have the project preferences set for use at most 3GB of space, yet E@H currently is using almost 8GB of space.
Can anyone explain why this is happening?
Cheers, Keith

Computer location is incorrect
)
Sometime in the past you must have set up local prefs in BOINC.
Open up Boinc Manager and go to Tools --> Computing preferences then click the Clear-button.
That should make Boinc use your online prefs again.
Local prefs allways overrides the online ones.

Have a look at the Bottom of your Computer Details Page, that is where the location is set for each computer:

Just change the Location, and click update.

Thanks for the reply Claggy. I had updated the location for the E@H computer to Work a while ago. Kept the S@H and MW@H computers set for Home. Didn't matter. The computers thinks all projects are Home location. Holmis figured it out. Somewhere along the way, I must have set local preferences on both computers. Didn't know that Local Prefs trumped all else, ignoring specific and individual project preferences. Got rid of the local prefs and now E@H reports that the computers are the Work location.Kinda tricky doing the Work preferences for just E@H. Found out after removing the Home location for E@H and making a Work location preference, that the Work location preferences populated across all projects. Found Work prefs at both S@H and MW@H. Must be a BOINC thing where you can set up different location preferences for all projects and then assign the computer location for the specific project. Makes sense I guess except for not understanding that Local machine preferences default to Home for all projects once you enter even one preference.
