This error is very strange. Every time I change the "Resource Share" all the work units I have are stopped with "Computer Error".

Is anybody having the same problem?

Computer error changing "Resource Share"

Hmmmm...

FWIW, I never had a problem with 5.4.11 trashing work on a resource share change.

So in this case I think it was just coincidence that the malfunctions occured at the same time you made the resource share change, although it might be related to when you did the manual update to pass the change from the project (assuming you didn't just wait for it to get passed from the project on the next routine contact session).

Also I noticed the last result reported was using an older Linux app, which known to have Signal 11 problems, so you may want to check and see that you're running the latest app now, and reset the project to force BOINC to get the new app if not (4.21, IIRC).

HTH,

Alinator

OOPS, My bad!! :-(

4.21 is an official Beta app, so you need to follow the directions on the Beta App page in order to give it a try.

Confirmed I did the same

Message 64161 in response to message 64160

Confirmed I did the same thing with another computer and it generated an error.

I replicated the problem on linux and XP.See:
http://einsteinathome.org/task/84109329

I moved "Resource Share" from 7500 to 7

Okie Dokie, and I have to say

Okie Dokie, and I have to say that is very strange and I can't think of a good reason why it should do that. ;-)

BTW, your running hidden so I can't see the other host your talking about, but I was wondering if the hosts have recovered on their own and are running OK now, or did you intervene with reset or something to stop the cascade failure on the one you posted a link to?

I explain the error more

Message 64163 in response to message 64162

I explain the error more carefully,

I have changed Resource Share in Internet from 7500 to 7.
I go to one of the computers ( Dual Core 3,0) and update project. This computer had two units running.
One of them stops inmediatly and after a while gives error.
The other keeps procesing.
On this computer there is a ClimateChange unit that keeps procesing normally,

I can reproduce it on every computer I have ( 5).

I can't reproduce the error

Message 64164 in response to message 64163

I can't reproduce the error no more. I have no idea why. Perhaps have something to do with size of units, becouse now are smaller. ???

I think the error was related to pressing 'update' not from changing 'ressource share' itself.
The error after pressing update was described in an other thread (sorry, I don't know exactly which one) but was removed with version 4.21 of the science app.
