Just when I finally had everything up and running on one of my faster machines, I get a message that BOINC needs your attention or something to that effect. When I pressed the work tab I received a computation error message. I found nothing in the help files referencing this problem. I pressed the update button in BOINC manager and then pressed the work button. Now, 2 or the 5 (projects?) will run up to .23% at which time all 5 now show activities suspended. Looks like it might be time to head back in the direction of square 1.

Computation error
)
Very likely the infamous "graphics bug". If you want to read about it, just do a Message Board keyword search. If you just want to fix it, try the Beta App (see link under More Information on the E@H home page). Or, stop using the screensaver and/or "Show graphics" option. BTW: I use the Beta and it works great!
Are you running the BOINC
)
Are you running the BOINC screensaver or with a graphics window open? Theres a "graphics bug" that can cause 0xC0000005 errors when the application exits.
This happens when BOINC tells the application to exit early, like when it pauses the workunit to run another, or suspends it because the user perferences say to NOT run when the user is active. In either case you'll see messages showing that the application was paused.
When BOINC switches workunits, you'll see something like this:
SETI@home Restarting result 18my04ab.19865.20256.228398.255_3 using setiathome version 4.02
Einstein@Home Pausing result w1_0983.5__0983.5_0.1_T09_S4hC_2 (removed from memory)
request_reschedule_cpus: process exited
When BOINC suspends workunits because the user is active, you'll see something like this:
Suspending computation and network activity - user is active
[Einstein@Home] Pausing result l1_0513.0__0513.4_0.1_T12_S4lB_2 (removed from memory)
If the BOINC messages show it paused the result, and thats followed by a message like this:
Einstein@Home|Unrecoverable error for result .............
it means you most likely have the "graphics bug".
The latest beta test application fixes it, check it out here, if you want to keep the screensaver swithch to the beta. Or if you prefer to keep running the "production" version, disable the BOINC screensaver - set it to "none" or "blank".
On the other problem, where BOINC shows all the applications are suspended, do you have your preference for "Do work while computer is in use?" set to "no"? That means whenever you use your system (move the mouse or press a key), BOINC will suspend whatever workunits are running. So you'll always see "activities suspended" in the status column. If you leave the system alone for whatever interval you set for "Do work only after computer is idle for" setting you should see the active workunit start running again.
[edit]Looks like you beat me on this one Stick, I didn't see your reply until after I posted mine.

RE: Just when I finally had
)
The error message posted on your AMD64 workunit is this: Reason: Access Violation (0xc0000005). The piece in parentheses is indicating the library incompatibility between Boinc client versions from 4.45 up and the older Einstein 4.79 science app. This problem usually (but not always) shows up when viewing Einstein graphics or screensaver. The beta 0.18 that Stick and Walt have suggested has an updated library and is the remedy.
