I keep getting similar errors from just one PC, on every 4th or 5th WU is deals with:

http://einsteinathome.org/task/5718289
and
http://einsteinathome.org/task/5665065

This has been happening for a few days. A complete reinstall of the boinc client 4.45 has done nothing (the boinc files folder was also cleaned out)

It does appear as thought the WU is completing, as credit is claimed?

I haven't seen crunching problems with other boinc projects on this PC. Anyone any ideas?

OK yes it's invalid, but in the results list for the WU, you can see there is a credit claimed implying the WU was marked by the PC as complete before it was submitted? Of course this may be an indicator or a diversion from the real problem?

The real issue is this is happenning every few WUs for days on end. Why? What is wrong and can it be fixed? There is little point my PC churning away if a large, regular, proportion of what it produces is of no use.

I should point out the PC is not overclocked in any way, is fully patched with current antivirus, etc.

It's happened

It's happened again:

http://einsteinathome.org/task/5718359

I'm not sure if there is a pattern forming, but it seems teh defective WUs are returned after I've had a session of gaming. That suggests the PC might be having difficulty running the game and boinc. I'll try disabling boinc next time.

I note the suggestions regarding heat, dust and memory. The case temp is only 25 deg C, whilst the CPU is reported as 57 deg C. Doesn't seem too bad to me for an Athlon XP3500+ that is working 24/7? There is no dust build up inside. That leaves the memory. I don't see unexplained crashes anywhere else. How can I check if it is a problem, short of buying some new chips that I might not need?

Everybody seems to recommend

Everybody seems to recommend memtest86 for memory-testing.
But I would bet on the gaming thing.(Got a flashback when I read your post about it.) ;)
