The messages in my BOINC show the WU normally completed -- but after about 5 seconds. Einstein@home shows a client error, computing, and assigns zero credit. My maximum WU per day is now 2, and the machine is lying dead. (Thank goodness my other two machines are chugging along...)
Anyone got any ideas?

Your OS is Win98!!
How adequate is your swap space? When did you last defrag? When did you last reboot?
If you get BSODs or other Win9x problems, I can thoroughly recommend the unofficial WIn98 service pack. Google for 98sesp (stands for 98 second edition service pack). It'll be the first hit.
After installing that little beauty, I have a formerly quite unreliable 98SE system that has probably been up (24/7) for more than 3 months now running two projects (EAH & SAH) as well as other stuff with not a single hiccup. I used to have to reboot quite regularly.
Cheers,
Gary.
