    I'm running Debian 8 with the Boinc client from the standard repos. Version 7.4.23. I can join other projects, but not einstein@home. When I try, I get: "Failed to add project. Please try again later." I've been getting this for a few days.

      This is because there is a problem with openssl and ca-certificates in Debian 8 right now. Please look here how to fix that.

        Thank you. That worked. Of course, Debian does not set up sudo by default. Never did understand the Ubuntu fascination with sudo. Best to su to root and drop the sudos. :-)
