Topic 222684

I've looked around this site for solutions to this but all seems ok for everyone. Project servers are up and yet I can't upload. Site address is down as http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/ and the jobs are from O2MDF. Just keep getting knocked back for 24 hrs. Any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks,

LL

Nothing should be lost.

Nothing should be lost.  After downloading the latest version, just stop the old version and install the new.  When you restart the new version, it will restart the currently running tasks from their saved checkpoints.

Cheers,
Gary.

Need clarification.  I just build a PC with ubuntu 18.  I installed boinc using Ubuntu's package manager.  It installed Boinc 7.9.3.  There is no way upgrade  boinc using the package manager so is my option to delete boinc using the package manger, download boinc from the boinc website and install it.  Are there any other options?

For what it's worth, one of my machines is running on BOINC 7.9.3 (Ubuntu 18.04.4...) and is not having any  problems communicating with Einstein.  (The 7.9 track was notionally the development version leading to 7.10)

However, if it doesn't work for you, another possibility is to track down Gianfranco Costamagna's PPA on Launchpad - that repository currently contains a version of 7.16.6, though I got my versions of 7.14 from the same source a while back.

The recommended way of picking it up is:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:costamagnagianfranco/boinc
sudo apt-get update

Whatever  you decide to do, good luck!

Cheers - Al.

Thanks.  I am not having issues with 7.9.3 but thought I would inquire into my options should I begin to have issues.  Thanks for your feedback
