Ah, Magic. Check out all

Ah, Magic. Check out all those bell-bottomed flares ! They look dorky now but it was the required uniform back then.

Cheers, Mike.

Yes indeed Mike! I

Yes indeed Mike!

I remember wearing mine to school way back that very same year and of course had the Three Dog Night album as one of my first ever (about the only one missing from my collection now)

Here is another classic just for here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dm6qw_yeo6o

Yup. Back then most music

Yup. Back then most music acts sounded the same ( ie. very good ) both in and out of a recording studio. They kept time and tune as a natural talent in their performance. I went to see Roxy Music live on stage in the late seventies and they were awesome. You really couldn't fault their act in the flesh. There was also an amazing guitarist there who was involved in many live shows worldwide : Chris Spedding. Seriously, he was better than either Knopfler bros and they are outstanding.

I did see the Beach Boys live once, but they were well on the slide by then. It was drunken/drugged rubbish. Off keys, missed cues, slurred lyrics eg. Hump Me Honda. I stayed for a half hour and left, as did many, rather ripped off.

Compare that with, say, Wrong Direction who are a commercial product designed to promote paraphernalia/adjuvant sales, with music somehow involved in that recipe. Famous for being famous but devoid of significant musical merit. Death by Sony. Teenagers are rather more richer these days, so I guess they can throw more expensive crap onto the stage !

What a pair of old pfoots we are ... :-) :-)

Cheers, Mike.

Yeah back in my younger days

Yeah back in my younger days I used to make the trip to Seattle to see many of my old favorites.

Summer of 1977 not long after the Kingdome was built and a friend and I walked to the entrance and got our tickets to go inside to see the one and only Led Zeppelin and all I had was $3 and the guy sold me the ticket and I still have the ticket stub here in my desk.`

I remember people saying the Kingdome would fall to the ground if Led Zeppelin played there......and it did finally crash to the ground 23 years later.

Back then I saw them from Ozzy Osbourne to Burning Spear.

Well I think many of the

Well I think many of the older generation then ( which is who we are now ) said that Led Zeppelin would cause kingdoms to fall. Like Nostradamus they will eventually be right in some context.

Cheers, Mike.

( edit) I must admit things can get a wee bit loose in our mining towns out West. A 'driver' was fined $5000 AUD for going through town and popping into the local pub for a quick drink, as you do on the way home, in his newly purchased semi-vehicle ( Newman W.A. ). It seems he parked around the back so as to not attract undue attention :

Cheers, Mike.

Orion is "on" for 0705. Stay tuned.

[edit] on/off rain at launch site. launch might be delayed but rain could clear during window

if launch does not go today then Sunday is next opportunity because of they would need to refill the ground tanks with lox and hydrogen. 40% chance today as of right now.

Weather is good to go. That

Weather is good to go. That Delta 4 heavy looks like a mover. Lovely red hydrogen flare. There's a few birds that need to get the heck outta there ....

Cheers, Mike.

Rain has cleared at site, but

Rain has cleared at site, but wind continues to be an issue. Orion has significant "sail surface" so wind becomes an issue above a certain level. I am optimistic but from my location there is a low ceiling so opportunity for pics will be limited. And you are right Mike, it will be an impressive launch. Like Phoenix Rising from the fire and smoke.
