26-Feb-2016 15:11:14 [Einstein@Home] BOINC will delete file stochastic_full.bank (no longer needed)
Oh, that's interesting. Maybe they replaced it with something else.
... stochastic_full.bank stochastic_full.bank ...
No, a new workunit still references it.
stochastic_full.bank ...
And the file_info says the client should not delete the file.
stochastic_full.bank
So the server wants the client to keep the file but on a second thought wants the file deleted. Huh?
Curiously, this has resulted in the file being marked not sticky in client state. If the host ever runs out of work the file will be deleted and then re-downloaded when new work arrives.

BOINC will delete file stochastic_full.bank

I'm certainly no expert but it would appear that was the Devs' intention. Maybe they are just preparing for some future time when there wont be BRP4 work and BOINC can remove files no longer needed.
The BOINC client now has 'permission' to delete the file if there is no work that relies on that file. It wont delete it while you continue to crunch. The Devs have said that whilst BRP4G work will be patchy, they intend to maintain enough BRP4 for the future. So your host should always be able to get work unless there is an extended outage lasting longer than your work cache. In that case, you would need to download that file again when the outage ended (or you could cache it yourself and restore it later). Since this is likely to be infrequent, is this such a major problem?
If it will be a problem for you, wouldn't it be better to ask the Devs politely rather than suggesting they don't know what they are doing? Maybe it's just a simple oversight that can easily be rectified.
Cheers,
Gary.
I not sure it was done
)
I not sure it was done intentionally. When a file is marked sticky it tells the client to not delete the file even if it's not needed by any task at the moment. When the same scheduler reply contains both instructions to keep the file and delete the file the instructions obviously contradict each other.
People sometimes complain that Einstein is using too much disk space on their hosts. Maybe the admins wanted to delete some other no longer needed files and stochastic_full.bank was accidentally included. stochastic_full.bank is only 300 kB, I don't think it alone would be worth the bother.
Or maybe the server has programming error and it sometimes gives instructions to delete random files.
Anyway, not a major problem, just though maybe something worth mentioning.
Yes, definitely worth

Yes, definitely worth mentioning.
The Devs do keep an eye on the problems board in particular so I'm sure they'll attend to it when they get the opportunity.
Thanks for the report.

Gary.
Thanks for the report. Indeed
)
Thanks for the report. Indeed the delete request for stochastic_full.bank was unintentional and due to a feature we implemented recently. This is fixed now and the bank file should be the only one affected.
Thanks.
