After downloading and trying BOINC for a second time I get the same response. When I click on BOINC in programs, nothing happens and the screen saver says BOINC not running, please launch BOINC

BOINC not running

Apparently you still need to attach to the project:

1. Launch the GUI of Boinc (supposing you are using Windows)
2. Go to the "Settings" in the toolbar
3. Select "Attach to Project"
4. Fill in the URL and the key you got in the e-mail.

Have a look in the tab "Messages" to see what are the different messages you have. The application should download together with some WU's.

I can't get it to launch to even get to a toolbar. When I go to programs and click on Boinc, nothing happens.

What user did you install with? What user are you using to launch? If they aren not the same, does the user being used to launch BOINC have WRITE permissions to the BOINC directory? Under Windows 2K, XP, NT, and 2003, this is not the default.

Message 7022 in response to message 7021

I used it under my user name in Windows if that is what you mean. I mean we have other users on this computer but it was downloaded under my name and desktop and tried to start under the same.

Are you of the Administrator

Are you of the Administrator group under the name you use? I think that is what JM7 is after. You need to be Administrator to run the installer, and at minimum Power User to be able to run it further on.

Also, tips for a next time you post here, you can edit the post if you want to reply to one, so it doesn't show all the former text. Just select it all with your mouse or press at the top left with the mouse, then hold Shift and go down with the cursor keys until all text is selected (blue). Then hit delete.

If you make a post without giving an answer, you can edit it by choose Edit this post at the top of the post you just made.

Yes, I am the Administrator, there are two administrators on this computer and two other users that are not.

At this point, I am at somewhat of a loss. Have you considered using 4.25? It may (or may not) have fixed your problem. However, this version has still not cleared testing, although it looks like it will.

I have not considered it. It

I have not considered it. It seems other people are having the same exact problem I have. Tried shutting off the firewall. BOINC is in my screensavers and the screensaver comes up with a BOINC bouncing around saying that I should launch it, that it is not launched.

Kurt, I experienced the

Message 7027 in response to message 7026

Kurt,

I experienced the same prob: I downloaded the vers. 3.19 I think and nothing happend if I started to install (win2000pro as admin)! So, it was a thing of the installer version I have on my machine: I use the latest vers.3...
So I downloaded the other version 4.25 of BOINC and then it works fine.......
That means, I forgot to look carefully to the description on that D/L page in what they wrote to what installer which vers. belongs...

Hope it will help.

.
