I uploaded a LATeah job on the 29th, but it's still "awaiting validation". How long will this take? Is there something wrong?
Thanks.

Awaiting validation takes how long?

Nothing is wrong in this case. Validation requires successful comparison of your result with the result of another host. In this case, your quorum partner seems rather inactive, having neither downloaded nor returned any work currently listed since March 26. It seems likely that that host will not return this work by the deadline shown of April 9 near 18:53 UTC. If not, pretty shortly thereafter the project servers will send out the work to yet another host. If that host returns it in a fairly typical time of a day or three, you may get your validation answer roughly April 11. But that host could have a computation error, or could fail to return the work by the new deadline, probably about two weeks out, or could return a result differing enough from yours to require a third copy to be computed for comparison (to "find a winner"). In all of those cases the servers would send out yet another copy, and another two week deadline would ensue. This does not go on forever, as you can see for that task the "max # of error/total/success tasks" setting is 20, 20, 20. So if all else fails the servers should "call time" before the end of this year.

If you think that a long time, you may want to stay from SETI. Many of their tasks are issued with deadlines several months out, so the rather rare cases of serial deadline timeouts really do lead to many, many months before final resolution of a tiny number of cases.

Many thanks for that. ^_^ At least I know what's going on now. But If you think that@s bad try climateprediction@home! I@ve just been sent a tas with a deadline of 13/04/2013! Doesn't bear thinking about, does it!

Posting threats of

Posting threats of uninstalling BOINC (and thus leaving) does not change the fact that it takes a minimum of two result files that should match each other, before credit is granted here at Einstein. If this takes too long for you, and you'd rather have loads of (totally meaningless) credits, there's other projects that can do that for you. Plenty of them with a minimum quorum of 1 (one), also plenty of them that grant thousands per task.

I don't see the problem, the tasks have been reported, they're awaiting validation, so credit will come in the near future, barring a world-wide catastrophe that destroys Einstein's servers across this world.

Why worry and fret about it? Are you losing your job, money, your family, because you don't get credit immediately? If not, then why threaten to uninstall? It isn't going to change within a week, so why bother waiting a week? Uninstall now and have peace.

As to why the project compares the outcome of two results, it's to make sure that we don't return total garbage. For when the project has a minimum quorum of one, we could hypothetically scan in the pages from our favorite book and return that as a result. It'll give us credit, but how exactly is it helping the project trying to get its science done?

If you have a look in this

If you have a look in this thread over in the "Technical news" area of the boards then you'll see that a bug was found in the validator so it had to be turned of for a while, that bug is now found and fixed and the validator is turned on again. But because it was of for a day or so a backlog has been building and it will take some time for the validator to catch up.

I totally agree with the meaningless credits that most stress about.
