I hesitate to put up a new thread about this but I can't seem to find an answer anywhere else. I can't get the new program version to work correctly. And, now that I've screwed with everything as much as I have it may never work correctly again. However, the easiest problem to identify, aside from not crunching any work units, is that I get an "application not found" error everytime I click on a web page in my account manager. In other words: in the account manager, on the projects tab, in the web page section, in the left hand column, I get the application not found error on all of the items listed there. Is this because I have not attached to an account manager when I installed the program? In any event, I have installed an uninstalled so many different versions of the program multiple times now that I'm not sure what to do but if I could attach to an account manager it would be progress.

In your BOINC Manager ( well on my 5.10.45 ) there is the option Tools -> Attach to account manager. Is that wizard helpful?

Cheers, Mike.

Thank you for the reply. Yep, I found that one. The trouble starts when it asks me for the account manager url. Can you help from here?

So you're signed-up/have-an-account with say BAM or some other account management system?

Cheers, Mike.

You shouldn't try to attach your hosts to an account manager, unless BOINC is working correctly. Fix your "application not found" problem first, then have a look at Welcome to the BOINC Account Manager and decide if you want to use it or not (BAM is optional).

I suspected that. I was fishing for ways to fix my application not found error. I can't believe I'm the first person this has happened to. I figured I somewhere failed to follow instructions. I just do not know where. My machine is crunching work units now but my applicaion not found error remains.

You didn't mention your operating system, but from the problem description in your OP, I'm guessing it's MSW. I know nothing of MSW, but it seems to me that boincmgr tries to start your web browser (Konqueror, Firefox, Opera, ...) and can't find it. Perhaps the default web browser under "Preferred Applications" (or whatever that is called in MSW) is set to an application that has been moved or removed.

For accurate information about boinc under MSW the BOINC FAQ Service is an excellent entry point.

Sorry, yes it is MSW vista.

Sorry, yes it is MSW vista. I wonder if it can't find the boinc calling instruction for internet explorer. When I click one of the "web sites" in boinc manager a "blank page" comes up in internet explorer. It looks like it's finding explorer but not finding the place to take explorer to. But I sure do not know for sure. I will check out the page you have left for me and see if I can find any answers.

Thank you very much. That one was enough to piss off the pope. I almost gave up. I've been frustrated with this thing for too long now. I'm glad you came along. I'd buy you your cold beverage of choice if I could.
