Aqua@home doesn't obey to core limitations

I have a quad core Phenom processor. In preferencess I limited number of cores available for BOINC to 3. Everything works fine, except for Aqua@home which takes 1,8 cores for its needs, what in addition to 2 other tasks (1 core each) takes up almost all of my CPU. Is there any way to force aqua to use only 1 core, or maybe to limit other tasks when aqua is running.

TIA

Aqua@home doesn't obey to core limitations

I assume that AQUA is running CUDA, which doesn't count for the number of cores used (if I correctly interpreted the various threads I read).

Ideally you should ask this on the Aqua boards but I would go to the Aqua webpage and set my computers in something besides the default group, ie home, school, work. Then you can set their limits that way but on other projects they are in the default group and are controlled that way.

Unfortunately - Aqua is NOT using CUDA, it is for sure using 1.8 of my CPU cores(boinc says: 1.80 CPU). Other tasks use CUDA (Seti for example uses 0.03 CPU and 1 CUDA), and this is fair.

Mikey - I am not really sure what your intensions are, could you please be more specific? Should I limit Aqua to use only 1 CPU at work and others tasks at default?

Thanks

You are posting this on the Einstein@Home forums. It would be better to ask this on the Aqua forums, or even if need be, on the BOINC Dev forums.

All these projects are entities on their own. Problems with one project's preferences should best be asked on that project, where people have all the information about your computer available (if you're not hiding your computers). It's getting a little difficult to help on a completely different project's forums.

Compare it to asking for help on playing a level of Crysis on the Unreal Tournament forums. Also something you don't do. :-)

Best to ask at Aqua, but I

Best to ask at Aqua, but I think it's because they have a multithreaded app. I saw the same thing on my dual core Linux box. I recall reading a discussion about their app on one of the mailing lists.

Thanks Yanc

I will respect the Mods wishes and not reply here, please ask on the Aqua boards.
