Hi MABROTHRAX welcome to E@H.
If your system was put together correctly then the cpu should slow down before thermal stress damages it. The parameters that control this protective feature can be tampered with so you may want to discuss the problem with your vendor.

As for processors running

As for processors running 100%, that's what they are made to do. I have been running two computers on DC projects for over 2.5 years at 100% and they have not failed. The laptop did have a dust problem once, and slowed it way down, but once that was cleaned up it is running like a champ.

The worse thing for your machine is dust and grime. Keep the fans, vents and processor heatsink clean. If you do that, your machine should run for a very long time (barring any unforseen issue like liquid, surge, fire, etc.).
