I had a laptop stolen while on vacation a couple years ago. About six months ago I found Einstein again and started looking at my stats. It seems that my stolen laptop has been connecting to Einstein pretty regularly from a Shaw Cable connection in Vancouver Canada, near where it was stolen.

I tried working through the West Vancouver Police Department where I filed a police report at the time of the incident, but I haven't had any luck. I can tell that this is still my laptop because it still has the same name and specs that match my information from Dell. Someone must have just cracked the password and sold it to someone else. That person must think it runs really slow with the project running in the background sending data here.

Any help or advice would be appreciated. The machine has been connecting from 24.85.145.35 for at least six months now. It is behind a router, so I can't get access to the WTS or VNC that I had running on it.

Best advice I can think of:

Try calling the Vancouver police again, let them know you have a tip as to the whereabouts of the stolen laptop, and ask to speak with the detectives/investigators in charge of the case. When you finally get in touch with the detectives (who may not be available when you first call) ask them if they're familiar with the LoJack for Laptops service (they should be) and tell them that your stolen laptop is running a distributed computing program that is essentially providing the same information as the LoJack service, and then give them the IP address. Hopefully you'll have better luck!

Over on seti they've managed

Over on seti they've managed to track stolen laptops that are still connecting to the project.

You need to contact the admin here and see if you can get the IP information for the laptop where it is now.

Good luck with getting your laptop back :)

As long as you can log into your account, you can check the IP yourself in the host web form. The "External IP address" is the one to look for, together with the "Last time of server contact". Law-enforcement will need both IP address and timestamp as most IP addresses are only allocated dynamically.
