So if I set up a local app with app_info.xml BOINC will jetison everything else and run just that. I currently have both the meerkat and GW apps local but is there a way to let it auto download other apps as they become available? Otherwise I have to babysit my computers. Thank you.

To my knowledge the only way you can "let it auto download other apps as they become available" is to have them selected in Einstein's preferences.  Also, you could try this from your Project preferences.

Allow non-preferred apps:  yes  no

If no work for selected applications are available, accept tasks from other applications?

No, it isn't possible.  Once

No, it isn't possible.  Once you start using a app_info.xml configuration, you are stuck with that.  ONLY the apps defined in the app_info can and will be used.

Any app changes on the website are ignored.

If you want to update to new or other apps, you will have to edit them into your app_info.
