5.8.11 - albert?

albert?

Albert_4.37 was the app for the S4 run if my memory serves me right. Perhaps they are sorting out some old WU’s that never got fully validated.
What do the WUs look like? Dave.

Paul, It looks much the same

Message 60975 in response to message 60974

Paul, It looks much the same as mine except for the two additional Albert files. A guess: either the scheduler has thrown a wobbly or, they are getting ready to send out some old failed S4 units in order to validate them and clean up the database. In which case you seem to be the star chosen to do the work! Dave.

Same issue happened with CPDN

Same issue happened with CPDN files. It is HOW they clean up their own XML listings when changing new applications. If it is in the XML, the new version thinks it's missing, then tries do download.

You can manually clean that stuff out of the files, or just ignore it.

This thing started to happen

Message 60977 in response to message 60976

This thing started to happen a bit earlier than 5.8 ... I seem to remember this happening at least in 5.7.x.

What seems to happen is the following: when projects move further to new executable and/or configuration files, they sometimes demand removal of stale files from clients and sometimes they don't. In case they don't, those files remain on client's disks for a while.

Earlier user could manually delete those files and BOINC CC would take a note and delete references to removed files from client_state.xml. Everybody was happy. Nowadays, BOINC CC tries to re-download these files immediately wether there's any need to do so or not.

This may seem a feature to someone (cure to mistakenly removed file) but it's a bug definitely. Files really missing would get downloaded sooner or later due to request from project server anyway.

Metod ...

thanks y'all :) apreciate the posts. i recall that e@h has the system of if you delete a data file for a wu by mistake that it will redownload it. nifty feature. it just caught me off guard to see the albert being downloaded, tholt maybe something went wonky on my system :) again, thank you.
