The most recently released version of PPC app takes 19% longer to complete a work unit than the previous version.
I'm seeing an increase of less than 10% on my only Mac that still has v4.06 results showing, a G4/400. I don't think my other two G4s are doing any worse.
Indeed the 4.12 is slower, though 19% sounds a bit too much to me.
It is meant to fix a problem that is described e.g. here, that is related to the invalid results as returned by the previous 4.56 Beta App. I was pretty sure that the new setup of the S5R1 run would ged rid of this, but obviously I was wrong.
So for the moment we switched back to older code until I find some fix for the faster code that avoids these errors without slowing it down too much. I think that invalid results get more annoying with the now longer WUs.
By now I have completed 4 WUs with 4.12. The mean crunching time for these is 45140 sec. For calculating the last 4 WUs with 4.06, this value ist 36575 sec, which means that 4.12 needs 23.4% more CPU-time.
I made a new App that should solve the problem while still preserving the speed of the old 4.06 App. However for a first test, this only runs on G5 with MacOS 10.4. Read about it here.

4.12,4.06?!
I still have 4.02 units...
Are the new ones being gradually distributed or is something messed up with my machine?
