Thanks for the link, just caught the end here in Canada.

To me, that should have been on the Space tv channel, or the Discovery channel.
Tv needs to wake up to the futur and our needs/wants/desires.
- But I will accept them checking for anything not suitable for children and then showing the full broadcast at a later date. :) hint hint

I had it on in the background

I had it on in the background for most of the broadcast. The early parts with a lot of back slapping and political stuff were rather trying, but some of the real science sections were nicely presented.

Something that struck me was the ridiculous questions that were being asked. At one point at Solvay, a table full of Nobel Laureates were taking questions, and I was cringing at some of the things asked. I thought it is only a matter of time before some idiot asks Murray Gell-Mann what he thought of Einsteins hair style for example!!

What a waste of opportunity.

I hope that recordings of the various sections are made available for viewing, as I didn't see the last 2 hours. The Imperial section on Grid and DC nice to see, put a face to the name now Bruce!

The soundtrack was awful at times. The most interesting part regarded the South Pole telescopes. Think of Robert Falcon Scott's expedition! Now people are doing science there.

In the last couple hours

Message 20310 in response to message 20309

In the last couple hours there was something about shining a 2$ laser through milk and being able to see the movement of molecules, Brownian was it called???, and another about u-v light knocking out electrons in a static charge. Really neat things to see.

>>> Brownian was it

>>> Brownian was it called???,

Brownian motion. One of Einsteins 1905 papers concerned this effect. You can sometimes see it yourself, if you are in a smoky or dusty room and sit very still so you don't create air currents, focusing on the grains of dust. Sometimes you will see one jump to the side for no apparent reason - it has been struck by a fast moving atom/molecule.

There are 6 pages of "highlights" here. I was just about to sit down with a cup of tea and watch the nanostructures piece.
